Our own Lani Williams was featured on 90.1 FM, and the Indianapolis PBS WFYI website, with her interview for the WFYI “Curious Mix” program. Music from our live Tuesdays at Pure Eatery, and her original music played solo in the WFYI studio, are also featured on the show.

“On this weeks episode of ‘Making It’, WFYI’s Melissa Davis talks with an Indianapolis based singer, who says even though she’s been performing live in the city for over 15 years, she still has plenty of music to share.”

Hi, I’m Lani Williams, and I’m making music.

When you are connecting with the other people on stage with you, or in your group performing with you, that’s an energy exchange that’s lovely. And it augments good things in your body. And then you have the exchange with your audience. And so when you have both of those things, it’s incredible. And literally, I will be high on that for a day and a half, two days, after a show.

Indianapolis, it’s a really giant small town, you know? A lot of the musicians that live here know each other, and have worked with each other. There have been many shared experiences, so there’s something kind of nice about that, too. It’s a pretty good community. And it’s just beautiful to see that original music is coming back, and does have a place in this town. I think we are definitely becoming a more cultural city, with our museums and our events. This place in the early 90’s was another planet. And I’m glad to be here.

I believe that what makes me keeps me going, is that explosion of good feelings that happen when I play music. And it’s that much more augmented when you have this energy exchange with people who are listening to you. And it’s such a good feeling! It’s kind of like when you fall deeply in love, you can’t help but just be happy and feel like you’re standing up taller. It’s just like you’re on Could 27, or whatever cloud number you want to be on, and you want more of it. And so I want more of that. And I really want to do what I can for people that live on this planet.

We’ve always known Lani was making it, but it’s super to hear the same from the radio and your public broadcasting service.
